Such an interesting journey. I share so many memories of the 50s and 60s with the author. His “Flashback” Part One, drew me into the chapters that followed. It was interesting to read about the constant changing culture in our communities decade-to-decade. From start to finish “There and Back Again” held me captive. Yet in the last creative period of his life Shakespeare mastered another form.

Wilderness Wanderings is a wonderful devotional that takes you through Israel's wanderings in the wilderness. In each short devotion, Stacy points readers to the faithfulness of God and encourages believers to find their contentment in Him alone.5/5(28).

i enjoyed wanderings a great deal, although about 50% of the book could have been excised without seriously disrupting the parts i found really fascinating -- the patriarchal period, the transition from cult-based to Rabbinic Judaism, the shifting centers of Rabbinic thought from Jerusalem to Babylon, and then to Cordova in Muslim Spain 4/5.

In this powerful book, John Bradshaw shows how we can learn to nurture that inner child, in essence offering ourselves the good parenting we needed and longed for. Through a step-by-step process of exploring the unfinished business of each developmental stage, we can break away from destructive family rules and roles and free ourselves to live 4/4(6).

Israel’s Wanderings in the Wilderness For four hundred years, Jacob’s descendants languished in bondage until the Lord provided them with a deliverer, the prophet Moses. True to his promise to Jacob (see Gen. –4 ; Gen. –25), the Lord brought Jacob’s posterity out of Egypt with unimaginable power and renewed his covenant with.

Our broken, fallen world is marked by a constant struggle for contentment. The period over which his wanderings in these places extended is not stated, but it was probably upwards of five years; "and the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months" (1 Samuel ).

Like the journeyings of the people of Israel (the events of which "were written for our admonition"), they resemble. The book is a living tribute to the large-hearted sons of the soil, who, down the ages, have yoked the hills together, through thick and thin, good times and bad times, have laughed at the thunder and mocked the skies, have left for the plains only to return, again and again, to the call of the Garhwal Himalaya have always been much more than lumps of rock and ice-an.

The novel then goes into an in-depth account of this forbidden love that gets readers glued to the book until they breathe a sigh of relief when they reach the end.

The novel's most essential and most prominent theme of love as a literal plague, culminates in the book's final chapter in which Florentino Ariza orders the Captain to announce, falsely, that there is at least one passenger aboard the ship who has been infected with cholera.

In part, this falsity is true; Florentino has been infected by a relentless passion for Fermina Daza since the day she.
